Video analysis · remote coaching · strength & conditioning

Your tennisin slow motion.

What the eye misses at full speed, video shows: the preparation, the contact point, the footwork between two shots. I watch, I annotate, I tell you what to work on and how, at the club or remotely, in English or in French. Every format has a written protocol: you know what you will receive before you pay.

The filmed lesson, minute by minute

45 minutes filmed, 15 minutes of debrief: two cameras, one goal, and you leave with your “before” and your “after” on the same screen.

  1. 0′

    Goal

The stroke or theme of the day, both cameras set up, warm-up.

  2. 5′

    Baseline

Free rallies, then the chosen stroke in play: your “before” reference.

  3. 12′

    Slow motion

20 to 30 targeted shots, filmed from the side in slow motion.

  4. 20′

    Correction

The priority, two drills, and 20-second replays on the tablet at the net.

  5. 35′

    In play

Themed points: does the cue hold under pressure? Your “after” reference.

  6. 45′

    Debrief

15 minutes courtside: before and after side by side, drawn slow motion, your three keys.

  • The side camera

Perpendicular to the stroke, 4-6 m away, at hip height, in slow motion: the stroke, from preparation to finish.

  • The high camera

Behind the baseline, centred, 2.5-3 m up: trajectories, depth, positioning and recovery.

Every stroke leaves a trace.

What I look at

Every stroke is read in phases, and every level has its priorities: there is no point fixing a forehand loop while the ball is still hit late.

  1. BeginnerNC to 40

Grip, distance to the ball, balance, hitting in front.

  2. Intermediate30/5 to 30/1

Early preparation, footwork, consistency, the second serve.

  3. Advanced30 to 15/2

Timing, the legs-hips-shoulders chain, depth, choices.

  4. Competitor15/1 and above

Tactical intent, variety, physical cost, reading under pressure.

Serve

  1. Grip and stance
  2. Toss: height and placement
  3. Trophy position: back shoulder, elbow
  4. Leg drive and racket drop
  5. Contact at full reach, pronation
  6. Landing in the court, first step

Forehand

  1. Grip and reading
  2. Preparation: shoulders turned before the bounce
  3. Open, semi-open or closed stance
  4. Contact in front of the hip
  5. Weight transfer and free arm
  6. Finish and recovery

Backhand

  1. Grip (one-hander, two-hander, slice)
  2. Shoulder turn
  3. Left hand or free arm
  4. Contact in front, racket face
  5. Balance at the finish
  6. Recovery

Volley

  1. Ready position, racket in front
  2. Split step on the opponent’s hit
  3. Crossover step to the ball
  4. Racket head above the wrist, no backswing
  5. Closing the net

Movement

  1. Split step: the right moment
  2. First step
  3. Adjustment steps
  4. Sliding on clay: entry, hit, exit
  5. Recovery

Filming it right

An analysis is only as good as the footage. Here is how to film it, for each use.

A stroke

Express analysis · remote coaching

  1. Phone side-on, perpendicular to the stroke, 4-6 m away, at hip height
  2. Slow motion at 120 or 240 frames/s, at least 20 shots
  3. Then 2 minutes of rallying, from behind, at normal speed
  4. Serve: side-on, then from behind at 45°

A match

Game plan with a video of the opponent

  1. Behind the baseline, centred, up high (2.5 m or more: stand, fence, tall tripod)
  2. Both players in full and all four corners of the court, all the time
  3. 1080p at 50 frames/s, landscape, exposure locked
  4. Flight mode, power bank, nothing cut between games; score called out or written down

A phone is enough, but a good one

  • 1080p video at 50 or 60 frames/s
  • Slow motion at 120 frames/s minimum (240 is better)
  • 10 GB free for a match
  • Send the original file: WeTransfer, Google Drive, iCloud, or WhatsApp “as a document”. A video sent the normal way on WhatsApp is recompressed: the slow motion becomes useless.

A usable video, or we start again

I check every video within 24 hours. If it does not allow an accurate analysis, I tell you why and you send another; if the second one does not work either, you get a full refund. The turnaround starts from a usable video.

  • The whole court visible 90% of the time
  • You, recognisable (tell me what you are wearing)
  • A steady, sharp image
  • Less than 2 minutes cut in total
  • For a video of an opponent: at least one full set

FAQ

How much does a tennis video analysis cost?

The express video analysis costs €45 (one stroke or theme, reply within 72 hours), with a commented video and a one-page sheet. The filmed lesson at the club in Montpellier costs €70, the game plan €70, €110 with a video of the opponent.

Do I need to live in Montpellier?

No. Only the filmed lesson takes place at the Tennis Club de la Pierre Rouge, in Montpellier. The analyses, game plan, remote coaching and monthly coaching are done entirely remotely, in English or in French.

What should I film my match with?

A good phone is enough: 1080p video at 50 or 60 frames per second. Place it behind the baseline, centred and up high, with both players and the whole court in frame at all times. Send the original file (WeTransfer, Google Drive, iCloud, or WhatsApp “as a document”): a video sent the normal way on WhatsApp is recompressed.

What if my video is badly filmed?

I check it within 24 hours. If it does not allow an accurate analysis, I tell you what is wrong and you send another; if the second one does not work either, you get a full refund.

How long until I receive my analysis?

Within 72 hours for the express analysis, 48 hours for a game plan; always from a usable video. The filmed lesson: clips and sheet within 24 hours. I take on at most five express analyses a week: beyond that, I tell you when your video arrives, with the delivery date, and you are refunded if it does not suit you.

Who does the analysis?

Stéphane Copuroglu, a state-qualified tennis coach (DEJEPS), with a sports-science degree in sports training (tennis option) and a Master 1 (first-year master’s) in mental preparation and coaching, best ranking 3/6, who has been teaching for over twenty years. His tools chart and lay out; no analysis is left to software alone: it is his eye, and his voice over your footage.

Is there a commitment with the monthly coaching?

No: it is charged monthly and can be cancelled at any time, in one click, from the link you receive by email.
